Martins Udotai is an AI product leader whose work sits at the intersection of engineering, machine learning, and global-scale commerce. His career spans mechanical engineering, enterprise AI systems, and venture-backed product development, with a focus on building technology that solves complex problems across both developed and emerging markets.
Originally from Nigeria, Martins earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Landmark University, where he also served as Student Council Press Secretary, developing early leadership and communication skills. He later received a fully funded scholarship to pursue a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at New York University. During his time at NYU, Martins transitioned into product management, discovering a passion for translating technical systems into scalable, user-centered products.
Professionally, Martins served as Senior Product Manager at Advon Commerce, where he built and led a multidisciplinary product team of over 12 engineers, data scientists, and designers. He oversaw the development of large-scale machine learning and generative AI systems supporting millions of SKUs for enterprise retail clients, including Walmart. Under his leadership, Advon Commerce became one of Google’s most advanced adopters of Vertex AI models, contributing to the company’s growth and its $240 million acquisition by Ascential.
In parallel, Martins co-founded Dinesurf, an AI-powered restaurant discovery and engagement platform serving over 1,400 restaurants across five African countries. As a founding product leader, he helped scale the platform to a reported $5 million valuation and secured a strategic partnership with Mastercard, enabling exclusive dining experiences for cardholders and expanding access to digital dining infrastructure across the continent.
Martins’ work has been recognized internationally. He has placed in the top 2% at the Wharton African Business Forum, won innovation competitions at NYU, and has been featured on CNBC Africa. Today, he is deeply committed to using AI to democratize access to technology in underserved markets while mentoring aspiring product managers and technologists globally.
