This is AGSA

Our vision

AGSA envisions itself as the preeminent student-run platform for Africans at NYU. We aim to be a cornerstone community that is not merely a desirable addition but an essential support system for Africans within the NYU community.

Our mission

Our mission is to cultivate a thriving community of African graduate students at NYU by addressing their social, cultural, academic, and professional needs. AGSA is committed to creating a conducive environment for personal and academic growth, while promoting African cultural diversity and understanding. Furthermore, we strive to raise awareness and engage the broader NYU graduate community on Africa-related subjects and thought leadership. In doing so, we aim to enhance the connection and collaboration between current and prospective African graduate students and the wider NYU community.

What we do

Activities: AGSA actively fosters stronger connections through a diverse range of activities, including social, professional and cultural events that not only build relationships but also showcase the rich and multifaceted cultures that Africa has to offer.

Community Support & Outreach: We are here to serve as a resource for both current and prospective African graduate students at NYU. From orientation programs to comprehensive resources that guide students from their arrival in New York until graduation, AGSA provides unwavering support at every step of their academic journey.

Africa Advancement: AGSA's commitment extends beyond the borders of the university. We curate an array of programs and events aimed at the advancement of the African continent. This includes organizing conferences, Africa Treks, community service initiatives, and more, all with the overarching goal of contributing to Africa's growth and development.

In essence, AGSA is a dynamic organization that not only fosters a sense of community at NYU but also empowers its members to explore, learn, connect, and contribute to the advancement of Africa and its people.
